HaDerekh, Hebrew for "The Way", is the only Christian "denomination" mentioned in the Bible. The Greek word translated "heresy" in KJV and WEB, and "sect" in NKJV, NIV, ESV, CSB, NASB, RSV and others is hairesis (Strong's #G3598), from which we get "heresy," commonly thought to mean "unbeliever." Its actual meaning is basically, "one who doesn't go along with the crowd." "Denomination" is given as a definition of "sect" in an English dictionary.

This page was begun primarily as a way of disseminating the information
in a small booklet which I wrote over 25 years ago titled
~ "Why Christianity?, or WHAT Jewish Roots?" ~
Since then, I have made a few amendments and several additions to the notes in it.
It is intended as information for Christians who are open to scriptural and historical
knowledge that has not been passed down to them because of misinformation, most of which
was originally promulgated by the Catholic Church and had no basis in biblical authority,
but was, rather, from the self-given authority of that institution.
However, our intent should be to follow the Hebraic rather than the Jewish roots of our faith;
faith which comes from our spiritual father Abraham,
instead of following the Jewish background which is strongly influenced by and dependent on
the oral traditions which came to be written down as the Mishnah and Talmud.
