PEREQ א
CHAPTER 1 1:1V'eleh sh'mot b'nei Yisra'el who came into Mitzrayim (every man and his bayit came with Ya`akov):
2Re'uven, Shim`on, Levi, v'Yehudah,
3Yissakhar, Z'vulun, u'Vinyamin,
4Dan v'Naftali, Gad v'Asher.
5Va'y'hi kol-nefesh who came out of the loins of Ya`akov were seventy nafesh, v'Yosef hayah b'Mitzrayim.
6Yosef died, as did all his brothers, v'khol ha-dor ha-hu.
7U'v'nei Yisra'el were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and grew exceedingly mighty; and ha-aretz was filled with them.
1:8
Now there arose a melekh chadash `al-Mitzrayim, who didn't know Yosef.
9Vayomer el`amo, "Hinneh, `am b'nei Yisra'el are more and mightier than we.
10
Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies, and fight against us, and escape min ha-aretz."
11
Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Par`oh: Pitom v'Ra`amses.
12
But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out. They were grieved because of b'nei Yisra'el.
13Mitzrayim ruthlessly made b'nei Yisra'el serve,
14
and they made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and in brick, and in all manner of service ba-sadeh, all their service, in which they ruthlessly made them serve.
1:15Vayomer melekh Mitzrayim to the Ivrit midwives, of whom shem ha-achat Shifrah, v'shem ha-shenit Pu`ah,
16vayomer, "When you perform the duty of a midwife to ha-Ivriyyot, and see them on the birth stool; im ben hu, then you shall kill him; v'im bat hi, va-chayah."
17
But the midwives feared Elohim, and didn't do what melekh Mitzrayim commanded them, but saved ha-y'ladim alive.
18Melekh Mitzrayim called for the midwives, vayomer to them, "Why have you done ha-davar hazeh, and have saved ha-y'ladim alive?"
19
The midwives said to Par`oh, "Because ha-Ivriyyot aren't like nashim ha-Mitzriyyot; for they are vigorous, and give birth before the midwife comes to them."1-1920Elohim dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and grew very mighty.
21Va'y'hi, because the midwives feared Elohim, he made for them batot.
22Par`oh charged kol`amo, saying, "You shall cast kol ha-ben who is born into ha-y'or,1-22v'khol ha-bat you shall save alive."
PEREQ ב
CHAPTER 2 2:1Ish mi-beit Levi went and took a bat Levi (as his wife).
2Ha-ishshah conceived, and bore a son. When she saw ki-tov hu, she hid him three months.
3
When she could no longer hide him, she took a tevah of papyrus for him, and coated it with bitumen and with pitch. She put ha-yeled in it, and laid it in the reeds by the bank of ha-y'or.
4
His achot stood far off, to see what would be done to him.
5Bat Par`oh came down to bathe at ha-y'or. Her maidens walked along al-yad ha-y'or. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it.
6
She opened it, and saw ha-yeled, v'hinneh, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, "Mi yaldei ha-Ivrim zeh."
7
Then his achot said el-bat Par`oh, "Should I go and call an ishshah to nurse for you from ha-Ivriyyot, that she may nurse ha-yeled for you?"
8Vatomer Bat Par`oh to her, "Go." Ha`almah went and called em ha-yaled.
9Vatomer bat-Par`oh to her, "Take away ha-yeled hazeh, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages." Ha-ishshah took ha-yeled and nursed it.
10Ha-yeled grew, and she brought him el-bat Par`oh, and he became her son. Va-tikrah sh'mo Mosheh [to draw (out)], vatomer, "Because I drew him out of ha-mayim."
2:11Va'y'hi ba-yamim ha-hem, when Mosheh had grown up, that he went out to his achim, and looked at their burdens. He saw an ish Mitzri striking an ish Ivri, one of his achim.
12
He looked this way and that way, and when he saw that (there was) ein ish, he smote ha-Mitzri and hid him in the sand.
13
He went out ba-yom ha-sheni, v'hinneh, sh'nei anashim Ivrim were fighting with each other. Vayomer to him who did the wrong, "Why do you strike your fellow?"
14Vayomer, "Who made you a sar v'shofet over us? Do you intend to kill me, as you killed ha-Mitzri?" Mosheh was afraid, vayomer, "Surely ha-davar is known."
15
Now when Par`oh heard ha-davar hazeh, he sought to kill Mosheh.
But Mosheh fled mi-p'nei Par`oh, and lived b'eretz Midyan, and he sat down by a be'er.
16
Now the kohen Midyan had sheva banot. They came and drew (water), and filled the troughs to give drink to their father's flock.
17Ha-ro`im came and drove them away; but Mosheh stood up and helped them, and gave drink to their flock.
18
And they came to Re`u'el avihen, vayomer, "How is it that you have returned so early ba-yom?"
19
They said, "Ish Mitzri delivered us mi-yad ha-ro`im, and moreover he drew (water) for us, and gave drink to the flock."
20Vayomer to his batot, "Where is he? Why is it that you have left ha-ish? Call him, that he may eat lechem."
21Mosheh was content to dwell with ha-ish. He gave to Mosheh Tzipporah [bird], his daughter.
22
She bore a son, and he named him Gershom [from ger, stranger], for he said, "I have been a sojourner in a foreign land."
2:23Va'y'hi ba-yamim ha-rabbim ha-hem, that melekh Mitzrayim died, and b'nei Yisra'el sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to Elohim because of the bondage.
24Elohim heard their groaning, and Elohim remembered his b'rit with Avraham, et Yitzchak, v'et Ya`akov.
25Elohim saw b'nei Yisra'el, and Elohim was concerned about them.
PEREQ ג
CHAPTER 3 3:1
Now Mosheh was keeping the flock of Yitro, his father-in-law, Kohen Midyan, and he led the flock to the back of ha-midbar, and came el-har ha-Elohim, Chorev.
2Malakh YHWH appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, v'hinneh, the bush burned ba-esh, and the bush was not consumed.
3Mosheh said, I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4
When YHWH saw that he turned aside to see, Elohim called to him out of the midst of the bush, vayomer, "Mosheh! Mosheh!" Vayomer, "Hinneni."
5Vayomer, "Don't come close. Take off your sandals from off your feet, ki ha-maqom you are standing on is adamat kodesh."
6Vayomer, "Anochi Elohei avikha, Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak, v'Elohei Ya`akov." Mosheh hid his face; for he was afraid to look el-ha-Elohim.
3:7Vayomer YHWH, "I have surely seen the affliction of `ami asher b'Mitzrayim, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8
I have come down to deliver them mi-yad Mitzrayim, and to bring them up min ha-aretz ha-hi el-eretz tovah and large, el-eretz flowing with milk and honey; el-maqom ha-Kana`ani, v'ha-Chitti, v'ha-Emori, v'ha-P'rizzi, v'ha-Chivvi, v'ha-Y'vusi.
9V'hinneh now the cry of b'nei Yisra'el has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which Mitzrayim oppresses them.
10
Come now therefore, and I will send you to Par`oh, that you may bring forth my people, b'nei Yisra'el mi-Mitzrayim."
11Vayomer Mosheh el-ha-Elohim, "Mi anokhi, that I should go to Par`oh, and that I should bring forth b'nei Yisra'el mi-Mitzrayim?"
12Vayomer, "Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought forth the people mi-Mitzrayim, you shall serve Elohim al-ha-har hazeh."
3:13Vayomer Mosheh el-ha-Elohim, "Hinneh, when I come to b'nei Yisra'el, and tell them, 'Elohei avoteikhem has sent me to you;' and they ask me, 'Ma sh'mo?', what should I tell them?"
14Vayomer Elohim el-Mosheh, "EH'YEH ASHER EH'YEH," vayomer, "You shall tell b'nei Yisra'el this: "EH'YEH has sent me to you."
15Vayomer `od Elohim el-Mosheh, "You shall tell b'nei Yisra'el this, 'YHWH, Elohei avoteikhem, Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak, v'Elohei Ya`akov has sent me to you.' Zeh sh'mo l`olam, and this is my memorial l'dor dor.
16
Go and gather Ziqnei Yisra'el, and tell them, 'YHWH, Elohei avoteikhem has appeared to me, Elohei Avraham, Yitzchak, v'Ya`akov, saying, "I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you b'Mitzrayim;
17
and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Mitzrayim el-eretz ha-Kana`ani, v'ha-Chitti v'ha-Emori v'ha-P'rizzi v'ha-Chivvi v'ha-Y'vusi el-eretz flowing with milk and honey."'
18
They will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you v'Ziqnei Yisra'el el-melekh Mitzrayim, and you shall tell him, 'YHWH, Elohei ha`Ivriyyim, has met with us. Now please let us journey derekh shloshet yamim ba-midbar that we may sacrifice to YHWH, Eloheinu.'
19
I know that melekh Mitzrayim won't give you permission to go, no, v'lo b'yad chazakah.
20
I will put forth my hand and strike Mitzrayim with all my wonders which I will do in the midst of it, and after that he will send you away.3-2021
I will give favor to ha`am hazeh in the sight of Mitzrayim, and it will happen that when you go, you shall not go empty-handed.
22
But every ishshah shall ask of her neighbor, and of her who sojourns in her bayit, jewels of kesef, jewels of zahav, and clothing; and you shall put them on your banim and on your banot. You shall despoil Mitzrayrim.
PEREQ ד
CHAPTER 4 4:1Mosheh answered vayomer, "But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, 'YHWH has not appeared to you.'"
2Vayomer YHWH to him, "Mah zeh in your hand?" Vayomer, "Matteh."
3Vayomer, "Throw it on ha-aretz." He threw it on ha-aretz, va'y'hi l'nachash; and Mosheh ran away from it.
4Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail." He put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand.
5
"That they may believe that YHWH, Elohei avotam, Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak, v'Elohei Ya`akov has appeared to you."
6Vayomer YHWH furthermore to him, "Now put your hand inside your cloak." He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, hinneh, his hand was as tsora'at, as white as snow.
7Vayomer, "Put your hand inside your cloak again." He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, hinneh, it had turned again as his other basar.
8
"V'hayah, if they will neither believe you nor listen l'qol ha-ot ha-rishon, that they will believe l'qol ha-ot ha-acharon.
9V'hayah, if they will not believe even ha-otot ha-eleh, neither listen to your voice, that you shall take of ha-mayim of ha-y'or, and pour it on the dry land. Ha-mayim which you take min ha-y'or will become dam on the dry land."
4:10Vayomer Mosheh el-YHWH, "Oh, Adonai, lo ish d'varim anokhi, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your `eved; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue."
11Vayomer YHWH to him, "Who made peh la-adam? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it lo anokhi, YHWH?
12
Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak."
13Vayomer, "Oh, Adonai, please, by the hand of him whom you wilt send” [or “send someone else."]
14
The anger of YHWH was kindled against Mosheh, vayomer, "What about Aharon, your ach, ha-Levi? I know that he can speak well. V'gam, hinneh, he comes forth to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
15
You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.
16
He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as Elohim.
17
You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do ha-otot."
4:18Mosheh went and returned to Yitro his father-in-law, vayomer to him, "Please let me go and return to my achim asher b'Mitzrayim, and see whether they are still alive." Vayomer Yitro l'Mosheh, "Go l'shalom."
19Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh b'Midyan, "Go, return to Mitzrayim; for kol ha-anashim who sought your life are dead."
20Mosheh took his ishshah and his banim, and set them al-ha-chamor, and he returned to eretz Mitzrayim. Mosheh took the rod of Elohim in his hand.
21Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "When you go back into Mitzrayim, see that you do lifnei Par`oh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not send away ha`am.
22
You shall tell Par`oh, 'Koh amar YHWH, Yisra'el b'ni, my firstborn,
23
and I have said to you, "Send away b'ni that he may serve me;" and you have refused to send him away. Hinneh, I will kill your son, your firstborn.'"
4:24Va'y'hi va-derekh at a lodging place, that (the angel of [LXX]) YHWH met him and wanted to kill him.
25
Then Tzipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; vatomer, "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me."
26
So he let him alone. Then she said, "You are a bridegroom of blood," because of the circumcision.
4:27Vayomer YHWH el-Aharon, "Go into ha-midbar to meet Mosheh." He went, and met him b'har ha-Elohim, and kissed him.
28Mosheh told Aharon et-kol divrei YHWH with which he had sent him, and kol ha-otot with which he had charged him.
29Mosheh v'Aharon went and gathered together kol Ziqnei b'nei Yisra'el.
30Aharon spoke kol ha-d'varim asher diber YHWH el-Mosheh, and did ha-otot in the sight of ha`am.
31Ha`am believed, and when they heard that YHWH had visited b'nei Yisra'el, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

CHAPTER 5 5:1
Afterward Mosheh v'Aharon came, and said el-Par`oh, "Koh amar YHWH, Elohei Yisra'el, 'Shalach5-1aet`ami, that they may hold a feast to me ba-midbar.'" 5-1b2Vayomer Par`oh, "Mi YHWH, that I should listen to his voice to send Yisra'el away? I don't know YHWH, and moreover I will not send Yisra'el away."
3
They said, "Elohei ha`Ivrim has met with us. Please let us go5-3derekh shloshet yamim ba-midbar and sacrifice la-YHWH Eloheinu, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword."
4Vayomer melekh Mitzrayim to them, "Why do you, Mosheh v'Aharon, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!"
5Vayomer Par`oh, "Behold, `am ha-aretz are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens."
6Ba-yom ha-hu, Par`oh commanded the taskmasters of ha`am, and their officers, saying,
7
"You shall no longer give ha`am straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8
The number of the bricks, which they made before, you shall require from them. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, 'Let us go and sacrifice l'Eloheinu.'
9
Let heavier work be laid al-ha-anashim, that they may labor therein; and don't let them pay any attention to lying words."
5:10
The taskmasters of ha`am went out, and their officers, and they spoke el-ha`am, lemor, Koh amar Par`oh: "I will not give you straw.
11
Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished."
12
So ha`am were scattered abroad b'kol eretz Mitzrayim to gather stubble for straw.
13
The taskmasters were urgent saying, "Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!"
14
The officers of b'nei Yisra'el, whom the taskmasters of Par`oh had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, "Why haven't you fulfilled your quota both yesterday gam ha-yom, in making brick as before?"
5:15
Then the officers of b'nei Yisra'el came and cried el-Par`oh, lemor, "Why do you deal this way with your `avadim?
16
No straw is given to your `avadim, and they tell us, 'Make brick!' v'hinneh, your `avadim are beaten; but the chet is in your own people."
17Vayomer, "You are lazy! Lazy! Therefore you say, 'Let us go and sacrifice la-YHWH. '
18
Go therefore now, and work, for no straw shall be given to you, yet shall you deliver the same number of bricks!"
19
The officers of b'nei Yisra'el saw that they were in trouble, when it was said, "You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!"
20
They met Mosheh v'Aharon, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Par`oh:
21
and they said to them, "May YHWH look at you, and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Par`oh, and in the eyes of his `avadim, to put a sword in their hand to kill us."
5:22Mosheh returned el-YHWH vayomar, "Adonai, why have you brought trouble la`am hazeh? Why is it that you have sent me?
23
For since I came to Par`oh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble la`am hazeh; neither have you delivered your people at all."
PEREQ ו
CHAPTER 6 6:1Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Now you shall see what I will do l'Phar`oh, ki b'yad chazakah he shall send them away, u'v'yad chazakah he shall drive them out of his eretz."
(14) PARASHAT VA'ERA
And I appeared
6:2 - 9:35
6:2Vai-daber Elohim el-Mosheh, vayomer to him, "Ani YHWH;
3
and I appeared el-Avraham, el-Yitzchak, v'el-Ya`akov, b'El Shaddai; but by my name YHWH I was not known to them.
4
I have also established my b'rit with them, to give them eretz Kana`an, eretz of their travels, in which they lived as aliens.
5
Moreover I have heard the groaning of b'nei Yisra'el, whom Mitzrayim keep in bondage, and I have remembered my b'rit.
6
Therefore tell liv'nei Yisra'el, 'Ani YHWH, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of Mitzrayim, and I will deliver you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with mishpatim g'dolim:
7
and I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you l'Elohim; and you shall know that Ani YHWH Eloheikhem, who brings you out from under the burdens of Mitzrayim.
8
I will bring you el-ha-aretz which I swore to give l'Avraham, l'Yitzchak, u'l'Ya`akov; and I will give it to you for a heritage: Ani YHWH.'"
9
Thus daber Mosheh el-b'nei Yisra'el, but they didn't heed Mosheh for anguish of ruach, and for cruel bondage.
6:10Vai-daber YHWH el-Mosheh, lemor,
11
"Bo, daber el-Par`oh, melekh Mitzrayim, that he send away b'nei Yisra'el out of his eretz."
12Vai-daber Mosheh lifnei YHWH, lemor, "Behold, b'nei Yisra'el haven't heeded me. How then shall Par`oh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?"
13Vai-daber YHWH el-Mosheh v'el-Aharon, and gave them a charge to b'nei Yisra'el, v'el-Par`oh, melekh Mitzrayim, to bring b'nei Yisra'el me-eretz Mitzrayim.

21B'nei Yitzhar: Korach va-Nefeg v'Zikhri.
22B'nei `Uzzi'el: Misha'el v'Eltzafan v'Sitri.

24B'nei Korach: Assir v'Elkana va-Avi'asaf; eleh mish'p'chot ha-Korchi.

6:26Hu Aharon u'Mosheh to whom YHWH said, "Bring out b'nei Yisra'el me-eretz Mitzrayim according to their hosts."
27
These are those who spoke el-Par`oh melekh-Mitzrayim, to bring out b'nei Yisra'el mi-Mitzrayim. Hu Mosheh v'Aharon.
6:28Va'y'hi b'yom diber YHWH el-Mosheh b'eretz Mitzrayim,
29vai-daber YHWH el-Mosheh, lemor, "Ani YHWH. Daber el-Par`oh melekh Mitzrayim et-kol that I speak to you."
30Vayomer Mosheh lifnei YHWH, "Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Par`oh listen to me?"
PEREQ ז
CHAPTER 7 7:1Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Behold, I have made you as Elohim l'Phar`oh; v'Aharon your brother shall be your navi.
2
You shall speak all that I command you; v'Aharon your brother shall speak to Par`oh, that he send away b'nei Yisra'el from his eretz.
3
I will harden lev Par`oh, and multiply my otot and my wonders b'eretz Mitzrayim.
4
But Par`oh will not listen to you, and I will lay my hand b'Mitzrayim, and bring forth my hosts, my people b'nei Yisra'el me-eretz Mitzrayim by mishpatim g'dolim.
5Mitzrayim shall know that Ani YHWH, when I stretch forth my hand al-Mitzrayim, and bring out b'nei Yisra'el from among them."
6Mosheh v'Aharon did so. As YHWH commanded them, so they did.
7Mosheh was a son of eighty shanah, and Aharon a son of eighty-three shanah when they spoke el-Par`oh.
7:8Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh v'el-Aharon, lemor,
9
"When Par`oh speaks to you, saying, 'Perform a miracle!' then you shall tell Aharon, 'Take your rod, and cast it down before Par`oh, that it become a tannin.'"
10Mosheh v'Aharon went in to Par`oh, and they did so, as YHWH had commanded: and Aharon cast down his rod lifnei Par`oh v'lifnei his `avadim, and it became a tannin.
11
Then Par`oh also called for ha-chakhamim and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Mitzrayim, did in like manner with their enchantments.
12
For every man cast down his rod, and they became tanninim: but the rod of Aharon swallowed up their rods.
13Lev Par`oh was hardened, and he didn't listen to them; as YHWH had spoken.
7:14Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Lev Par`oh is stubborn. He refuses to send away ha`am.
15
Go to Par`oh ba-boqer. Hinneh, he goes out to ha-mayim; and you shall stand by the bank of ha-y'or to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a nachash you shall take in your hand.
16
You shall tell him, 'YHWH, Elohei ha`Ivrim, has sent me to you, saying, "Shalach et`ami, that they may serve me ba-midbar:" v'hinneh, until now you haven't listened.
Water Turned to Blood
17Koh amar YHWH, "In this you shall know that Ani YHWH. Hinneh, I will strike with the rod that is in my hand `al-ha-mayim asher ba-y'or, and they shall be turned to blood.
18Ha-dagim asher ba-y'or shall die, and ha-y'or shall become foul; and Mitzrayim shall loathe to drink mayim min-ha-y'or."'"
19Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Say el-Aharon, 'Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Mitzrayim, over their y'orim, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood; v'hayah dam b'khol eretz Mitzrayim, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.'"
7:20Mosheh v'Aharon did so, as YHWH commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck ha-mayim asher ba-y'or, in the sight of Par`oh, and in the sight of his `avadim; and kol ha-mayim asher ba-y'or were turned l'dam.
21Ha-dagim asher ba-y'or died; and ha-y'or became foul, and Mitzrayim couldn't drink mayim min ha-y'or; va'y'hi ha-dam b'khol eretz Mitzrayim.

The magicians of Mitzrayim did in like manner with their enchantments; and lev Par`oh was hardened, and he didn't listen to them; ka-asher diber YHWH.
23Par`oh turned and went into his bayit, neither did he lay even this to heart.
24Kol Mitzrayim dug round about ha-y'or for mayim to drink; for they couldn't drink of the mayim of ha-y'or.
25Shiv'at yamim were fulfilled, after YHWH had struck ha-y'or.

CHAPTER 8
Frogs
8:1(7:26 in Heb)Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, Go in to Par`oh, and tell him, "Koh amar YHWH, 'Shalach et`ami, that they may serve me.
2(7:27)
If you refuse to send them away, hinneh, I will plague all your borders with frogs:
3(7:28)
and ha-y'or shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into your bayit, and into your bedchamber, and on your bed, and into the bayit of your `avadim, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading-troughs:
4(7:29)
and the frogs shall come up both on you, and on your people, and on all your `avadim.'"
5(8:1 in Heb)Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Tell Aharon, 'Stretch forth your hand with your rod `al-ha-n'harot, `al-ha-y'orot, and over the pools, and cause frogs to come up `al-eretz Mitzrayim.'"
6(2)Aharon stretched out his hand over the waters of Mitzrayim; and the frogs came up, and covered eretz Mitzrayim.
7(3)
The magicians did in like manner with their enchantments, and brought up frogs `al-eretz Mitzrayim.
8:8(4)
Then Par`oh called for Mosheh u'l'Aharon, vayomer, "Entreat el-YHWH that he take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will send the people away, that they may sacrifice la-YHWH."
9(5)Vayomer Mosheh l'Phar`oh, "I give you the honor of setting the time that I should pray for you, and for your `avadim, and for your people, that the frogs be destroyed from you and your batim, and remain ba-y'or only."
10(6)Vayomer, "Tomorrow." Vayomer, "Be it according to your davar, that you may know that there is none like YHWH Eloheinu.
11(7)
The frogs shall depart from you, and from your batim, and from your `avadim, and from your people. They shall remain ba-y'or only."
12(8)Mosheh v'Aharon went out from Par`oh, and Mosheh cried to YHWH concerning the frogs which he had brought on Par`oh.
13(9)YHWH did according to davar Mosheh, and the frogs died min-ha-batim, out of the courts, u'min-ha-sadot.
14(10)
They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.
15(11)
But when Par`oh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart, and didn't listen to them, as YHWH had spoken.
Lice
8:16(12)Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Tell Aharon, 'Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of ha-aretz, that it may become lice b'khol eretz Mitzrayim.'"
17(13)
They did so; and Aharon stretched out his hand with his rod, and struck the dust of ha-aretz, and there were lice va-adam u'va-b'hemah; all the dust of ha-aertz became lice b'khol eretz Mitzrayim.
18(14)
The magicians tried with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they couldn't. There were lice ba-adam u'va-b'hemah.
19(15)
Then the magicians said to Par`oh, "This is the finger of Elohim:" and lev Par`oh was hardened, and he didn't listen to them; as YHWH had spoken.
Flies
8:20(16)Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Rise up early ba-boqer, and stand lifnei Par`oh; hinneh, he comes forth to ha-mayim; and tell him, 'Koh amar YHWH, "Shalach `ami, that they may serve me.
21(17)
Else, if you will not send my people away, hinneh, I will send swarms of flies on you, and on your `avadim, and on your people, and into your batim: and the batei Mitzrayim shall be full of swarms of flies, and also ha-adamah whereon they are.
22(18)
I will set apart ba-yom ha-hu et-eretz Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end you may know that Ani YHWH in the midst of ha-aretz.
23(19)
I will put a division between my people and your people: by tomorrow shall this sign be."'"
24(20)YHWH did so; and there came grievous swarms of flies into the bayit of Par`oh, and into the bayit of his `avadim: u'v'khol eretz Mitzrayim, ha-aretz was corrupted by reason of the swarms of flies.
8:25(21)Par`oh called for Mosheh u'l'Aharon, vayomer, "Go, sacrifice l'Eloheikhem ba-aretz!"
26(22)Vayomer Mosheh, "It isn't appropriate to do so; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of Mitzrayim la-YHWH Eloheinu. Behold, shall we sacrifice the abomination of Mitzrayim before their eyes, and won't they stone us?
27(23)Derekh shloshet yamim we will go ba-adamah, and sacrifice to YHWH Eloheinu, as he shall command us."
28(24)Vayomer Par`oh, "I will send you away, that you may sacrifice to YHWH Eloheikhem ba-midbar, only you shall not go very far away. Pray for me."
29(25)Vayomer Mosheh, "Hinneh, I go out from you, and I will pray to YHWH that the swarms of flies may depart mi-Par`oh, from his `avadim, and from his people, tomorrow; only don't let Par`oh deal deceitfully any more in not letting ha`am go to sacrifice la-YHWH."
30(26)Mosheh went out meim Par`oh, and prayed el-YHWH.
31(27)YHWH did ki-d'var Mosheh, and he removed the swarms of flies from Par`oh, from his avadim, and from his people. There remained lo echad.
32(28)Par`oh hardened his heart this time also, and he didn't send ha`am away.

9:1Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Bo el-Par`oh, and tell him, 'Koh amar YHWH, Elohei ha`Ivrim: "Shalach et`ami, that they may serve me.

For if you refuse to send them away, and hold them still,

4YHWH will make a distinction between the cattle of Yisra'el and the cattle of Mitzrayim; and there shall nothing die of all that belongs to b'nei Yisra'el."'"
5YHWH appointed a mo`ed, lemor, "Tomorrow YHWH shall do ha-davar hazeh ba-aretz."
6YHWH did ha-davar hazeh on the next day; and all the cattle of Mitzrayim died, but of the cattle of b'nei Yisra'el, lo met echad.
7Par`oh sent, v'hinneh, there was not so much as one of the cattle of Yisra'el dead. But lev Par`oh was stubborn, and he didn't send ha`am away.
Boils
9:8Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh v'el-Aharon, "Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Mosheh sprinkle it toward ha-shamayim in the sight of Par`oh.
9
It shall become small dust `al kol-eretz Mitzrayim, and shall be a boil breaking forth with boils `al-ha-adam v`al-b'hemah, b'khol eretz Mitzrayim."
10
They took ashes of the furnace, and stood lifnei Par`oh; and Mosheh scattered it up toward ha-shamayim; and it became a boil breaking forth with boils ba-adam u'va-b'hemah.
11
The magicians couldn't stand lifnei Mosheh because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, u'v'khol Mitzrayim.
12YHWH hardened lev Par`oh, and he didn't listen to them, as YHWH had spoken to Mosheh.
9:13Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Rise up early ba-boker, and stand lifnei Par`oh, and tell him, 'Koh amar YHWH, Elohei ha`Ivrim: "Shalach et`ami, that they may serve me.
14
For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your `avadim, and against your people; that you may know that there is none like me b'khol ha-aretz.
15
For now I would have put forth my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off min-ha-aretz;
16
but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared b'khol ha-aretz;
17
as you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won't send them away.
18Hinneh, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been b'Mitzrayim since the day it was founded even until now.
19
Now therefore command that all of your cattle and all that you have ba-sadeh be brought into shelter. Kol ha-adam v'ha-b'hemah that is found ba-sadeh, and isn't brought home, the hail shall come down on them, and they shall die."'"
20
Those who feared d'var YHWH among the `avadim of Par`oh made their `avadim and their cattle flee el-ha-batim.
21
Whoever didn't regard d'var YHWH left his `avadim and his cattle ba-sadeh.
Hail
9:22Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Stretch forth your hand al-ha-shamayim, that there may be hail b'khol eretz Mitzrayim, `al-ha-adam, v`al-ha-b'hemah, and on every herb of ha-sadeh, b'eretz Mitzrayim."
23Mosheh stretched forth his rod `al-ha-shamayim, and YHWH sent thunder, hail, and fire ran down upon ha-aretz. YHWH rained hail `al-eretz Mitzrayim.
24
So there was very severe hail, and fire flashing up amidst the hail, such as had not been b'khol eretz Mitzrayim since it became a goy.
25
The hail struck b'khol eretz Mitzrayim et kol-asher ba-sadeh, me-adam v'ad b'hemah; and the hail struck every herb of ha-sadeh, and broke kol`etz ha-sadeh.
26
Only b'eretz Goshen, where b'nei Yisra'el were, there was no hail.
9:27Par`oh sent and called l'Mosheh u'l'Aharon vayomer to them, "I have sinned this time. YHWH ha-tzaddik, and I and my people are wicked.
28
Pray to YHWH; for there has been enough of qolot elohim9-28 and hail. I will send you away, and you shall stay no longer."
29Vayomer Mosheh to him, "As soon as I have gone out of ha`ir, I will spread abroad my hands el-YHWH. Ha-qolot shall cease; the hail shall be no more; that you may know ki la-YHWH [is] ha-aretz.
30
But as for you and your `avadim, I know that you don't yet fear in the face of YHWH Elohim."
31
The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom.
32
But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up.
33Mosheh went out of the city from Par`oh, and spread abroad his hands to YHWH; and ha-qolot and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on ha-aretz.
34
When Par`oh saw that the rain and the hail and ha-qolot were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his `avadim.
35Lev Par`oh was hardened, and he didn't send away b'nei Yisra'el, just as YHWH had spoken b'yad Mosheh.

Locusts
10:3Mosheh v'Aharon went in to Par`oh and said to him, "Koh amar YHWH, Elohei ha`Ivrim: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Shalach `ami, that they may serve me.

The `avadim of Par`oh said to him, "How long will this (man) be a snare to us? Send away ha-anashim, that they may serve YHWH, Eloheihem. Don't you yet know that Mitzrayim is destroyed?
8Mosheh v'Aharon were brought again el-Par`oh, vayomer to them, "Go, serve YHWH Eloheihem; but who are those who will go?"
9Vayomer Mosheh, "We will go with our young and with our old; with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for to us (it is a) chag l'YHWH."

13Mosheh stretched forth his rod `al-eretz Mitzrayim, va-YHWH brought an east wind on the land kol ha-yom ha-hu, v'khol ha-lailah; (and when)boker hayah, the east wind brought the locusts.
14
The locusts went up `al-kol eretz Mitzrayim, and rested in all the borders of Mitzrayim. They were very grievous. Before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
15
For they covered the surface of kol ha-aretz, so that ha-aretz was darkened, and they ate every herb of ha-aretz, and kol p'ri ha`etz which the hail had left. There remained nothing green, either tree or herb of ha-sadeh b'khol eretz Mitzrayim.
16
Then Par`oh called l'Mosheh u'l'Aharon in haste, vayomer, "I have sinned la-YHWH Eloheikhem, and against you.
17
Now therefore please forgive my chet again, and pray to YHWH Eloheikhem, that he may also take away from me ha-mavet hazeh."
18
He went out from Par`oh and prayed to YHWH.
19YHWH turned a west wind chazak meod, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Yam Suf. There remained not one arbeh in all the borders of Mitzrayim.
20
But YHWH hardened lev Par`oh, and he didn't send away b'nei Yisra'el.
Darkness
10:21Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Stretch out your hand `al-ha-shamayim, that there may be darkness `al-eretz Mitzrayim, even darkness which may be felt."
22Mosheh stretched forth his hand `al-ha-shamayim, and there was a thick darkness b'khol eretz Mitzrayim shloshet yamim.

24Par`oh called el-Mosheh, vayomer, "Go, serve YHWH. Only let your flocks and your herds stay behind. Let your little ones also go with you."
25Vayomer Mosheh, "You must also give into our hand sacrifices v'olot, that we may sacrifice to YHWH Eloheinu.
26
Our cattle also shall go with us. There shall not a hoof be left behind, for of it we must take to serve YHWH Eloheinu; and we don't know with what we must serve YHWH, until we come there."
27
But YHWH hardened lev Par`oh, and he wouldn't send them away.
28Vayomer Par`oh to him, "Get away from me! Be careful to see my face no more; ki ba-yom you see my face you shall die!"

12:28B'nei Yisra'el went and did so; as YHWH had commanded Mosheh v'Aharon, so they did.
12:29Va'y'hi in the middle of ha-lailah, that YHWH struck all the firstborn b'eretz Mitzrayim, from the firstborn of Par`oh who sat on his kisse to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of b'hemah.

12:33Mitzrayim were urgent `al-ha`am, to send them min-ha-aretz in haste, for they said, "We are all metim (men)."
34Ha`am took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading-troughs being bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.
35B'nei Yisra'el did according to d'var Mosheh; and they asked of Mitzrayim jewels of kesef, and jewels of zahav, and clothing.
36YHWH gave ha`am favor in the sight of Mitzrayim, so that they let them have what they asked. They despoiled Mitzrayim.
12:37B'nei Yisra'el journeyed from Rameses to Sukkot, about six hundred thousand on foot who were men, besides children.
38

They baked the dough which they brought forth mi-Mitzrayim (into) cakes of matsah for it was lo-chametz, because they were thrust mi-Mitzrayim, and couldn't wait, neither had they prepared for themselves any food.

6Shiv`at yamim you shall eat matzot, u'va-yom ha-shvi'i (shall be a) chag la-YHWH.
7Matzot shall be eaten shiv`at ha-yamim; and no chametz shall be seen with you, neither shall there be s'or seen with you in all your borders.
8
You shall tell your son ba-yom ha-hu, saying, 'It is because of that which YHWH did for me when I came forth mi-Mitzrayim.'
9
It shall be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that Torat YHWH may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand YHWH has brought you mi-Mitzrayim.
10
You shall therefore keep ha-chukkah hazot in its mo`ed mi-yamim yamimah [from year to year; lit. "from days to days"].
13:11
"V'hayah, when YHWH shall bring you el-eretz ha-K'na`ani, as he swore to you v'la-avoteikha, and shall give it you,

that you shall set apart to YHWH all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from b'hemah. The males shall be la-YHWH.
13
Every firstborn of a chamor you shall redeem b'seh; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and you shall redeem all the firstborn of adam among your sons.
14
It shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'Mah zot?' that you shall tell him, 'By strength of hand YHWH brought us mi-Mitzrayim, mi-beit `avadim;
15
and it happened, when Par`oh would hardly let us go, that YHWH killed all the firstborn b'eretz Mitzrayim, both the firstborn of adam, and the firstborn of b'hemah. Therefore I sacrifice to YHWH all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.'

It shall be for a sign on your hand, and for symbols between your eyes: for by strength of hand YHWH brought us forth mi-Mitzrayim."

13:17Va'y'hi, when Par`oh had sent away ha`am, that Elohim didn't lead them by derekh eretz P'lishtim, although that was near; for Elohim said, "Lest perhaps ha`am change their minds when they see war, and they return to Mitzrayim;"
18
but Elohim led the people around by derekh ha-midbar, yam suf; and b'nei Yisra'el went up armed me-eretz Mitzrayim.
19Mosheh took the bones of Yosef with him, for he had made b'nei Yisra'el swear, saying, "Elohim will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you."
20
They took their journey mi-Sukkot, and encamped in Etam, in the edge of ha-midbar.
21YHWH went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them on ha-derekh, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go yomam va-lailah:
22
the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, didn't depart from lifnei ha`am.

CHAPTER 14 14:1Vai-daber YHWH el-Mosheh, lemor,

"Daber el-b'nei Yisra'el, that they turn back and encamp lifnei Pi-Hachirot, bein Migdol u'vein ha-yam, lifnei Ba`al-Tz'fon. You shall encamp opposite it al-ha-yam.
3Par`oh will say liv'nei Yisra'el, 'They are entangled ba-aretz. Ha-midbar has shut them in.'
4
I will harden lev Par`oh, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Par`oh, and over all his host; and Mitzrayim shall know that Ani YHWH." They did so.
14:5
It was told l'melekh Mitzrayim that the people had fled; and lev Par`oh and of his `avadim was changed el-ha`am, and they said, "Mah zot that we have done, that we have sent away Yisra'el from serving us?"
6
He made ready his chariot, and took his army with him;
7
and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Mitzrayim, and captains over all of them.
8YHWH hardened lev Par`oh melekh Mitzrayim, and he pursued after b'nei Yisra'el; for b'nei Yisra'el went out with a high hand [i.e.; arrogantly].
9Mitzrayim pursued after them: all the horses and chariots of Par`oh, his horsemen, and his army; and overtook them encamping `al-ha-yam, beside Pi-Hachirot, lifnei Ba`al-Tz'fon.
14:10
When Par`oh drew near, b'nei Yisra'el lifted up their eyes, v'hinneh, Mitzrayim were marching after them; and they were very afraid. B'nei Yisra'el cried out el-YHWH.
11
They said to Mosheh, "Because there were no graves in Mitzrayim, have you taken us away la-mut ba-midbar? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us forth mi-Mitzrayim?
12Ha-lo zeh ha-davar that we spoke to you b'Mitzrayim, lemor, 'Leave us alone, that we may serve Mitzrayim?' For it were better for us to serve Mitzrayim, than that we should die ba-midbar."
13Vayomer Mosheh el-ha`am, "Don't be afraid. Stand still, and see yeshuat YHWH, which he will work for you ha-yom: for as you have seen Mitzrayim ha-yom, you shall see them again no more `ad`olam.
14YHWH will fight for you, and you shall remain silent."
15Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Why do you cry to me? Daber el-b'nei Yisra'el, that they go forward.
16
Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand `al-ha-yam, and divide it: and b'nei Yisra'el shall go into the midst of ha-yam on dry ground.
17Ani, hinneh, Ani will harden lev Mitzrayim, and they shall go in after them: and I will get myself honor over Par`oh, and over all his host, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.
18Mitzrayim shall know ki-Ani YHWH, when I have gotten myself honor over Par`oh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen."
14:19Malakh Elohim, who went before the camp of Yisra'el, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them.
20
It came between the camp of Mitzrayim and the camp of Yisra'el; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet it gave light by night: and the one didn't come near the other kol-ha-lailah.
14:21Mosheh stretched out his hand `al-ha-yam, and YHWH caused ha-yam to go back by a strong east wind kol ha-lailah, and made ha-yam dry land, and ha-mayim were divided.
22B'nei Yisra'el went into the midst of ha-yam on the dry ground, v'ha-mayim were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.
23Mitzrayim pursued, and went in after them into the midst of ha-yam: all of the horses of Par`oh, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24
It happened in the watch of ha-boqer, that YHWH looked out on the host of Mitzrayim through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the host of Mitzrayim.
25
He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; vayomer Mitzrayim, "Let's flee mi-p'nei Yisra'el, ki-YHWH fights for them against Mitzrayim!"
14:26Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Stretch out your hand `al-ha-yam, that ha-mayim may come `al-Mitzrayim, on their chariots, and on their horsemen."
27Mosheh stretched out his hand `al-ha-yam, and ha-yam returned to its strength when boqer appeared; u'Mitzrayim fled against it. YHWH overthrew Mitzrayim in the midst of ha-yam.
28Ha-mayim returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all the army of Par`oh that went in after them ba-yam. None of them remained, `ad-echad.
29
But b'nei Yisra'el walked on dry land in the midst of ha-yam, v'ha-mayim were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.
14:30
Thus YHWH saved Yisra'el ba-yom ha-hu mi-yad Mitzrayim; and Yisra'el saw Mitzrayim dead on the seashore.
31Yisra'el saw ha-yad ha-g'dolah asher `asah YHWH b'Mitzrayim, and ha`am feared YHWH; and they believed in YHWH, and in Mosheh his `eved.

The horse and his rider he has thrown ba-yam. 2YAH is my strength and song,

This is my El, and I will praise him; Elohei avi, and I will exalt him. 3YHWH is a man of war. YHWH sh'mo.
4
The chariots of Par`oh and his host has he cast ba-yam;
the best of his officers are sunk ba-Yam Suf. 5
The depths cover them.
They went down into the depths like a stone. 6
Your right hand, YHWH, is glorious in power,
Your right hand, YHWH, dashes the enemy in pieces. 7
In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you:
You send forth your wrath. It consumes them as stubble. 8
With your ruach are ha-mayim piled up.
The floods stood upright as a heap.
The deeps were congealed b'lev yam. 9
The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil. My desire shall be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' 10
You blew with your ruach. Ha-yam covered them.
They sank like lead in the mighty mayim. 11
Who is like you, YHWH, b'elim?
Who is like you, glorious in holiness,
fearful in praises, doing wonders? 12
You stretched out your right hand. Aretz swallowed them.

You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation. 14
The peoples have heard. They tremble.
Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of P'leshet. 15
Then allufei Edom were dismayed.
Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Mo'av.
All the inhabitants of Kana`an are melted away. 16
Terror and dread fall on them.
By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone;
Until your people pass over, YHWH,
Until the people pass over who you have purchased.
17
You shall bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance,
the place, YHWH, which you have made for yourself to dwell in; Mikdash, Adonai, which your hands have established. 18YHWH yimlokh l`olam va`ed."
15:19
For the horses of Par`oh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen ba-yam, and YHWH brought back the waters of ha-yam on them; but b'nei Yisra'el walked on dry land in the midst of ha-yam.
20Miryam ha-n'vi'ah, achot Aharon, took a tambourine in her hand; and kol ha-nashim went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21Miryam answered them:
"Sing to YHWH, for he has triumphed gloriously:
The horse and his rider he has thrown ba-yam."
15:22Mosheh led Yisra'el onward mi-Yam Suf, and they went out el-midbar Shur; and they went shloshet yamim ba-midbar, and found lo mayim.
23
When they came to Marah, they couldn't drink mayim mi-Marah, for they were marar [bitter]. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24Ha`am murmured against Mosheh, lemor, "What shall we drink?"
25
Then he cried el-YHWH. YHWH showed him an `etz, and he threw it el-ha-mayim, and ha-mayim were made sweet. There he made a statute and a mishpat for them, and there he tested them;
26vayomer, "If you will diligently listen l'qol YHWH your Elohim, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his mitzvot, and keep all his chukkim, I will put none of the diseases on you, which I have put b'Mitzrayim; ki Ani-YHWH who heals you."
15:27
They came to Elim, where there were twelve einot mayim, and seventy palm trees: and they encamped there `al-ha-mayim.

They took their journey me-Elim, and kol `adat b'nei Yisra'el came el-midbar Sin, asher bein Elim u'vein Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing me-eretz Mitzrayim.
2Kol `adat b'nei Yisra'el murmured `al-Mosheh v`al-Aharon ba-midbar;
3
and b'nei Yisra'el said to them, "We wish that we had died b'yad YHWH b'eretz Mitzrayim, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we ate our fill of lechem, for you have brought us out el-ha-midbar hazeh to kill kol ha-qahal hazeh with hunger."
16:4Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Hinneh, I will rain lechem min-ha-shamayim for you, and ha`am shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my Torah or not.
5Va'y'hi ba-yom ha-shishi that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather yom yom."
6Vayomer Mosheh v'Aharon el-kol-b'nei Yisra'el, "At evening, then you shall know that YHWH has brought you out me-eretz Mitzrayim;
7u'voqer, then you shall see kavod YHWH; because he hears your murmurings against YHWH. Who are we, that you murmur against us?"
8Vayomer Mosheh, "Now YHWH shall give you basar to eat ba-`erev, and lechem ba-boqer to satisfy you; because YHWH hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against YHWH."
16:9Vayomer Mosheh el-Aharon, "Tell kol `adat b'nei Yisra'el, 'Come near before YHWH, for he has heard your murmurings.'"
10Va'y'hi k'daber Aharon el-kol`adat b'nei Yisra'el, that they looked el-ha-midbar, v'hinneh, k'vod YHWH appeared in the cloud.
11Vai-daber YHWH el-Mosheh, lemor,
12
"I have heard the murmurings of b'nei Yisra'el. Speak to them, saying, 'At evening you shall eat basar, u'va-boqer you shall be filled with lechem: and you shall know that Ani YHWH Eloheikhem.'"
16:13Va'y'hi ba-`erev that quail came up and covered the camp; u'va-boqer the dew lay around the camp.
14
When the dew that lay had gone, hinneh, al-p'nei ha-midbar was a small round thing, small as the hoar-frost al-ha-aretz.
15
When b'nei Yisra'el saw it, they said one to another, "Man hu?"16-15, for they didn't know mah hu. Vayomer Mosheh to them, "Hu ha-lechem which YHWH has given you to eat."
16Zeh ha-davar which YHWH has commanded: "Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an `omer a head, according to the number of your nafshot, shall you take it, every man for those who are in his ohel."
17B'nei Yisra'el did so, and gathered some more, some less.
18
When they measured it with an `omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They gathered every man according to his eating.
19Vayomer Mosheh to them, "Let no one leave of it `ad boqer."
20
They didn't listen to Mosheh, but some of them left of it `ad-boqer, and it bred worms, and became foul: and Mosheh was angry with them.
21
They gathered it ba-boqer ba-boqer , everyone according to his eating. When ha-shemesh grew hot, it melted.
16:22Va'y'hi ha-yom ha-shishi they gathered twice as much lechem, two `omer for each one, and all the rulers of ha`edah came and told Mosheh.
23Vayomer to them, "This is that which YHWH has spoken, 'Tomorrow is shabbaton, Shabbat kodesh la-YHWH. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept `ad-ha-boqer."
24
They laid it up ad-ha-boqer, as Mosheh asked, and it didn't become foul, neither was there any worm in it.
25Vayomer Mosheh, "Eat that ha-yom, ki-Shabbat ha-yom la-YHWH. Ha-yom you shall not find it ba-sadeh.
26Sheshet yamim you shall gather it, u'va-yom ha-sh'vi'i (is) Shabbat. In it there shall be none."
27Va'y'hi ba-yom ha-sh'vi'i that some of ha`am went out to gather, and they found none.
28Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "How long do you refuse to keep my mitzvot and my torot?
29
See that YHWH has given you ha-Shabbat, therefore he gives you ba-yom ha-shishi lechem of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his maqom ba-yom ha-sh'vi'i."
30
So ha`am rested ba-yom ha-sh'vi'i.
16:31Beit Yisra'el called the name of it Man, and it was like zera of coriander, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.
32Vayomer Mosheh, "Zeh ha-davar which YHWH has commanded, 'Fill an `omer of it to be kept throughout your dorot, that they may see ha-lechem with which I fed you ba-midbar, when I brought you forth me-eretz Mitzrayim."
33Vayomer Mosheh el-Aharon, "Take one pitcher, and put in it ha-`omer man, and lay it up before YHWH, to be kept throughout your dorot."
34
As YHWH commanded Mosheh, so Aharon laid it up lifnei ha-Edut, to be kept.
35B'nei Yisra'el ate ha-man forty years, until they came to an inhabited eretz. They ate ha-man until they came to the borders of eretz Kana`an.

2
Therefore ha`am quarreled with Mosheh and said, "Give us mayim to drink." Vayomer Mosheh to them, "Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test YHWH?"
3Ha`am were thirsty for mayim there; and ha`am murmured against Mosheh, and said, "Why have you brought us up mi-Mitzrayim, to kill us, our banim, and our livestock with thirst?"
4Mosheh cried to YHWH, lemor, "What shall I do la`am hazeh? They are almost ready to stone me."
5Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Pass lifnei ha`am, and take Ziknei Yisra'el with you, and the rod with which you struck ha-y'or, take in your hand and go.
6Hinneh, I will stand before you there on ha-tzur b'Chorev. You shall strike the rock, and mayim will come out of it, that ha`am may drink." Mosheh did so in the sight of Ziknei Yisra'el.
7Vayikra shem ha-maqom Massah, u'M'rivah, because of the striving of b'nei Yisra'el, and because they tested YHWH, lemor, "Is YHWH among us, or not?"

Then `Amalek came and fought with Yisra'el in R'fidim.
9Vayomer Mosheh el-Y'hoshua, "Choose anashim for us, and go out, fight with `Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of Elohim in my hand.
10
So Y'hoshua did as Mosheh had told him, and fought with `Amalek u'Mosheh, Aharon, v'Chur went up to the top of the hill.
11Va'y'hi, when Mosheh held up his hand, that Yisra'el prevailed; and when he let down his hand, `Amalek prevailed.
12
But the hands of Mosheh were heavy; and they took an even, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aharon v'Chur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until the going down of ha-shemesh.
13Y'hoshua defeated `Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
17:14Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Write this for a memorial ba-sefer, and rehearse it in the ears of Y'hoshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of `Amalek from under ha-shamayim."
15Mosheh built a mizbeach vayikra sh'mo YHWH Nisi.

2Yitro, father-in-law of Mosheh, received Tzipporah, eshet Mosheh, after he had sent her away,

4V'shem ha-echad Eli`ezer, "Ki Elohe avi was my help and delivered me from the sword of Par`oh."
5Yitro, father-in-law of Mosheh, came with his banim and his ishshah el-Mosheh el-ha-midbar where he was encamped, (at) har-ha-Elohim.
6Vayomer el-Mosheh, "I, your father-in-law Yitro, have come to you with your ishshah, and her two banim with her."
7Mosheh went out to meet his father-in-law, and bowed and kissed him. They asked each other of their welfare, and they came into ha-ohel.
8Mosheh told his father-in-law all that YHWH had done to Par`oh and to Mitzrayim for the sake of Yisra'el, all the hardships that had come on them ba-derekh, and how YHWH delivered them.
9Yitro rejoiced for all ha-tovah which YHWH had done to Yisra'el, in that he had delivered them mi-yad Mitzrayim.
18:10Vayomer Yitro, "Barukh YHWH, who has delivered you mi-yad Mitzrayim, u'mi-yad Par`oh; who has delivered ha`am from under yad Mitzrayim.
11
Now I know ki-gadol YHWH mi-kol ha-elohim because of the thing in which they dealt arrogantly against them."
12V'Yitro, father-in-law of Mosheh, took an `olah and sacrifices for Elohim. Aharon v'khol Ziknei Yisra'el came to eat lechem with the father-in-law of Mosheh lifnei ha-Elohim.
18:13Va'y'hi on the next day that Mosheh sat to judge ha`am, and the people stood around Mosheh min-ha-boqer ad-ha`arev.

The father-in-law of Moshe saw all that he did to ha`am vayomer, "Mah ha-davar hazeh that you do la`am? Why do you sit alone, and kol ha`am stand around you min-boqer ad`arev?"
15Vayomer Mosheh to his father-in-law, "Because the people come to me to inquire of Elohim.
16
When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know chukkei ha-Elohim and his torot."
17Vayomer the father-in-law of Mosheh to him, "Lo-tov ha-davar that you do.
18
You will surely wear away, both you and ha`am hazeh that is with you; for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to perform it yourself alone.
19
Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel, and Elohim be with you. You represent the people before Elohim, and bring ha-d'varim el-ha-Elohim.
20
You shall teach them ha-chukkim v'et-ha-torot, and shall show them ha-derekh in which they must walk, and the work that they must do.
21
Moreover you shall provide out of mi-kol ha`am able anashim such as fear Elohim: anshei emet, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be sarim of thousands, sarim of hundreds, sarim of fifties, and sarim of tens.
22
Let them judge ha`am at all times. It shall be that kol ha-davar ha-gadol they shall bring to you, but kol ha-davar ha-katon they shall judge themselves. So shall it be easier for you, and they shall share the load with you.
23
If you will do this thing, and Elohim commands you so, then you will be able to endure, v'gam kol ha`am hazeh to their maqom will go b'shalom."
18:24
So Mosheh listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.
25Mosheh chose able anashim mi-kol Yisra'el, and made them roshim `al-ha`am, sarim of thousands, sarim of hundreds, sarim of fifties, and sarim of tens.
26

17Mosheh led ha`am out of the camp to meet Elohim; and they stood at the lower part of ha-har.
18V'Har Sinai, the whole of it, smoked, because YHWH descended on it ba-esh; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and kol ha-har quaked greatly.
19
When qol ha-shofar grew louder and louder, Mosheh spoke, and Elohim answered him b'qol.
20YHWH came down `al-Har Sinai, el-rosh ha-har. YHWH called Mosheh el-rosh ha-har, and Mosheh went up.
21Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Go down, charge ha`am, lest they break through to YHWH to gaze, and many of them perish.
22
Let ha-Kohanim also, who come near to YHWH, sanctify themselves, lest YHWH break forth on them."
23Vayomer Mosheh el-YHWH, "Ha`am can't come up el-Har Sinai, for you charged us, saying, 'Set bounds around ha-har, and sanctify it.'"
24Vayomer YHWH to him, "Go down and you shall bring Aharon up with you, but don't let ha-Kohanim v'ha`am break through to come up el-YHWH, lest he break forth on them."
25
So Mosheh went down el-ha`am, and told them.

20:7 (6)
"You shall not take Shem YHWH Eloheikha in vain, for YHWH will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
20:8 (7)
"Remember yom ha-Shabbat to keep it kadosh.

11 (10)
for in sheshet yamim did YHWH make ha-shamayim v'et ha-aretz, et-ha-yam, and all that is in them, and rested ba-yom ha-sh'vi'i; therefore YHWH blessed yom ha-Shabbat and made it kadosh.
20:12 (11)
"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long `al-ha-adamah asher YHWH Eloheikha gives you.
20:13 (12)
"You shall not (commit premeditated) murder.

20:16
"You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
20:17 (13)
"You shall not covet your neighbor's bayit. You shall not covet your neighbor's ishshah, nor his `eved, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his chamor, nor anything that is your neighbor's."
20:18 (14)V'khol haam perceived ha-qolot, the lightnings, v'qol ha-shofar v'et ha-har smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.
19 (15)
They said to Mosheh, "Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but don't let Elohim speak with us, lest we die."
20 (16)Vayomer Mosheh el-ha`am, "Don't be afraid, for Elohim has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won't sin."
20:21 (17)Ha`am stayed at a distance, and Mosheh drew near to the thick darkness where Elohim was.
22 (18)Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "This is what you shall tell b'nei Yisra'el: 'You yourselves have seen that I have talked with you min-ha-shamayim.
23 (19)

CHAPTER 32 32:1
When ha`am saw that Mosheh delayed to come down min-ha-har, ha`am gathered themselves together al-Aharon and said to him, "Come, make us elohim which shall go before us; ki zeh Mosheh, ha-ish who brought us up me-eretz Mitzrayim, we don't know what has become of him."
2Vayomer Aharon to them, "Break apart the rings of zahav which are in the ears of your nashim, of your banim, and of your banot, and bring them to me."
3Kol ha`am took off the rings of zahav which were in their ears, and brought them el-Aharon.
4
He received what they handed him, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molten calf; and they32-4 said, "Eleh eloheikha, Yisra'el, which brought you up me-eretz Mitzrayim."
5
When Aharon saw this, he built a mizbeach before it; vayiqra Aharon vayomer, "Chag la-YHWH tomorrow."
6
They rose up early on the next day, and offered `olot, and brought sh'lamim; and ha`am sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to make merry.
32:7Vai-daber YHWH el-Mosheh, "Go, get down; for your people, who you brought up me-eretz Mitzrayim, have corrupted themselves!
8
They have turned aside quickly min-ha-derekh which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molten calf and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it and said, 'Eleh eloheikha, Yisra'el, which brought you up me-eretz Mitzrayim.'"
9Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "I have seen ha`am hazeh, v'hinneh, they are a stiff-necked people.
10
Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a goy gadol."
32:11Mosheh begged YHWH his Elohim, vayomer, "YHWH, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought forth me-eretz Mitzrayim with great power and with a mighty hand?
12
Why should Mitzraim speak, saying, 'He brought them forth for evil, to kill them be-harim, and to consume them me`al p'nei ha-adamah?' Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.
13
Be mindful l'Avraham, l'Yitzchak, u'l'Yisra'el, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your z'ro'im k'khokhvei ha-shamayim, v'khol ha-aretz hazot that I have spoken of I will give to your z'ro'im, and they shall inherit it l`olam.'"
14YHWH repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.
32:15Mosheh turned and went down min-ha-har with the two tablets of ha`Edut in his hand; tablets that were k'tuvim on both their sides; on the one side and on the other they were k'tuvim.
16
The tablets were the work of Elohim, and the writing was the writing of Elohim, engraved on the tables.
17Yehoshua heard qol ha`am as they shouted, vayomer el-Mosheh, "There is the noise of war in the camp."
18Vayomer, "Ein qol of those who shout for victory, v'ein qol of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing that I hear."
19Va'y'hi, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and the anger of Mosheh grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath ha-har.
20
He took the calf which they had made, and burnt it ba-esh, ground it to powder, and scattered it al-p'nei ha-mayim, and made b'nei Yisra'el drink of it.
32:21Vayomer Mosheh el-Aharon, "What did ha`am hazeh do to you, that you have brought on them chata'ah g'dolah?"
22Vayomer Aharon, "Don't let the anger of adoni32-22 grow hot. You know ha-am, that they are set on evil.
23
For they said to me, 'Make us elohim, which shall go before us; ki zeh Mosheh, ha-ish who brought us up me-eretz Mitzrayim, we don't know what has become of him.'
24
I said to them, 'Whoever has any zahav, let them take it off:' so they gave it me; and I threw it ba-esh, and out came this calf."
32:25
When Mosheh saw that ha`am had broken loose, (for Aharon had let them loose for a derision among their enemies,)
26
then Mosheh stood in the gate of the camp, vayomer, "Whoever is on the side of YHWH, come to me!" Kol b'nei Levi gathered themselves together to him.
27Vayomer to them, "Koh amar YHWH, Elohei Yisra'el, 'Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man kill his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor."
28B'nei Levi did according to davar Mosheh: and there fell min-ha`am ba-yom ha-hu about three thousand men.
29Vayomer Mosheh, "Consecrate yourselves ha-yom la-YHWH, yes, every man against his son, and against his brother; that he may bestow on you a blessing this day."
32:30Va'y'hi on the next day, vayomer Mosheh el-ha`am, "You have sinned a chata'ah g'dolah. Now I will go up to YHWH. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your chattat."
31Mosheh returned to YHWH, vayomar, "Oh, ha-am hazeh have sinned a chata'ah g'dolah, and have made themselves elohei zahav.
32
Yet now, if you will, forgive their chattat -- and if not, please blot me out of your sefer which you have written."
33Vayomer YHWH el-Mosheh, "Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my sefer.
34
Now go, lead ha`am to where I have spoken to you. Hinneh, my malakh shall go before you. Nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their chattat."
32:35YHWH struck the people, because they made the calf, which Aharon made.

When the people heard ha-davar ha-ra hazeh, they mourned: and no one put on his jewelry.

6B'nei Yisra'el stripped themselves of their jewelry me-Har Chorev (onward).
33:7Mosheh used to take ha-Ohel and to pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it Ohel Mo`ed. It happened that everyone who sought YHWH went out to Ohel Mo`ed, which was outside the camp.

For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, mi-kol ha-am asher al-p'nei ha-adamah?"

19Vayomer, "I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of YHWH before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy."
20Vayomer, "You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live."

21
Ten cubits was the length of a board, and a cubit and a half the breadth of each board.
22
Each board had two tenons, joined one to another. He made all the boards of ha-Mishkan this way.

He made the boards for ha-Mishkan: twenty boards for the negev southward.
24
He made forty sockets of kesef under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for its two tenons, and two sockets under another board for its two tenons.

4
He made for ha-mizbeach a grating of a network of n'choshet, under the ledge around it beneath, reaching halfway up.
5
He cast four rings for the four ends of the grating of n'choshet, to be places for the poles.
6

Accounts
38:21 - 40:38
38:21
This is the amount of material used for ha-Mishkan, Mishkan ha`Edut, as they were counted, `al-pi Mosheh, for the service of ha-L'viyyim, b'yad Itamar, ben Aharon ha-Kohen.
22B'tzal'el ben Uri, ben Chur, of the tribe of Y'hudah, made all that YHWH commanded Mosheh.
23
With him was Oholi'av, ben Achisamakh, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver, and a skillful workman, and an embroiderer in t'khelet, in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen.
38:24
All the zahav that was used for the work in all the work of ha-Kodesh, even the zahav of ha-t'nufah, was twenty-nine kikkar, and seven hundred thirty shekel b'shekel ha-Kodesh.
25Kesef of those who were numbered of ha`edah was one hundred kikkar, and one thousand seven hundred seventy-five shekel, b'shekel ha-Kodesh:
26
a beka a head, that is, half a shekel b'shekel ha-Kodesh, for everyone who passed over to those who were numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty men.
27
The one hundred kikkar ha-kesef were for casting the sockets of ha-Kodesh, and the sockets of ha-parokhet; one hundred sockets for the one hundred kikkar, kikkar for a socket.
28
Of the one thousand seven hundred seventy-five (shekels) he made hooks for the pillars, overlaid their capitals, and made fillets for them.
29N'choshet (of) ha-t'nufah was seventy kikkar, and two thousand four hundred shekel.
30
With this he made the sockets to petach Ohel Mo`ed, the altar of n'choshet, the grating of n'choshet for it, all the vessels of ha-mizbeach,
31
the sockets around the court, the sockets of the gate of the court, all the pins of ha-Mishkan, and all the pins around the court.
PEREQ לט
CHAPTER 39 39:1Min ha-t'khelet, purple, and scarlet, they made finely worked garments, for ministering ba-Kodesh, and made the holy garments for Aharon; as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:2
He made ha-efod: zahav, t'khelet, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen.
3
They beat ha-zahav into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in ha-t'khelet, in the purple, in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, the work of the skillful workman.
4
They made shoulder-pieces for it, joined together. At the two ends it was joined together.
5
The skillfully woven band that was on it, with which to fasten it on, was of the same piece, like its work; zahav, t'khelet, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen; as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:6
They worked the shoham stones, enclosed in settings of zahav, engraved with the engravings of a signet, `al-sh'mot b'nei Yisra'el.
7
He put them on the shoulder-pieces of ha-efod, to be stones of memorial li'v'nei Yisra'el, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:8
He made the breastplate, the work of a skillful workman, like the work of ha-efod; zahav, t'khelet, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen.
9
It was square. They made the breastplate double. Its length was a span, and its breadth a span, being double.
10
They set in it four rows of stones. A row of odem [ruby], pitdah [topaz], u'vareket [emerald] was row one;
11
and the second row: nofekh [turquoise], sappir [sapphire], v'yahalom [diamond];
12
and the third row: leshem [jacinth], sh'vo [agate], v'achlamah [amethyst];
13
and the fourth row: tarshish [beryl], shoham [onyx] v'yashfeh [jasper]. They were enclosed in settings of zahav.
14
The stones were `al-sh'mot b'nei Yisra'el, twelve, according to their names; like the engravings of a signet, (each) ish `al-sh'mo, for the twelve tribes.
15
They made on the breastplate chains like cords, of braided work, zahav tahor.
16
They made two settings of zahav, and two rings of zahav, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.
17
They put the two braided chains of zahav in the two rings at the ends of the breastplate.
18
The other two ends of the two braided chains they put on the two settings, and put them on the shoulder-pieces of ha-efod, in the front of it.
19
They made two rings of zahav and put them on the two ends of the breastplate, on the edge of it, which was toward the side of ha-efod inward.
20
They made two rings of zahav, and put them on the two shoulder-pieces of ha-efod underneath, in the front of it, close by its coupling, above the skillfully woven band of ha-efod.
21
They bound the breastplate by its rings to the rings of ha-efod with a lace of t'khelet, that it might be on the skillfully woven band of ha-efod, and that the breastplate might not come loose from ha-efod, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:22
He made the robe of ha-efod of woven work, all of t'khelet.
23
The opening of the robe in the midst of it was like the opening of a coat of mail, with a binding around its opening, that it should not be torn.
24
They made on the skirts of the robe pomegranates of t'khelet, purple, scarlet, and twined linen.
25
They made bells of zahav tahor, and put the bells between the pomegranates around the skirts of the robe, between the pomegranates;
26
a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, around the skirts of the robe, to minister in, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:27
They made the coats of fine linen of woven work for Aharon and for his banim,
28
and the turban of fine linen, and the linen headbands of fine linen, and the linen breeches of fine twined linen,
29
and the sash of fine twined linen, and t'khelet, and purple, and scarlet, the work of the embroiderer, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:30
They made the plate of the holy crown of zahav tahor, and wrote on it a writing, like the engravings of a signet: "KODESH LA-YHWH."
31
They tied to it a lace of t'khelet, to fasten it on the turban above, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
39:32
Thus all the work of Mishkan Ohel Mo`ed was finished. B'nei Yisra'el did according to all that YHWH commanded Mosheh; so they did.
33
They brought ha-Mishkan el-Mosheh, ha-Ohel, with all its furniture, its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets,
34
the covering of rams' skins dyed red, the covering of hides of t'chashim, and parokhet of the screen,
35Aron ha`Edut with its poles, ha-Kapporet,
36ha-shulchan, all its vessels, and lechem ha-panim,
37ha-m'norah ha-t'horah, its nerot, ha-nerot to be set in order, all its vessels, shemen for the light,
38mizbeach ha-zahav, the anointing shemen, the sweet samim, the screen for petach ha-Ohel,
39mizbeach n'choshet, its grating of n'choshet, its poles, all of its vessels, the basin and its base,
40
the hangings of the court, its pillars, its sockets, the screen for the gate of the court, its cords, its pins, all the instruments of the service of ha-Mishkan l'Ohel Mo`ed,
41
the finely worked garments for ministering ba-Kodesh, the holy garments for Aharon ha-Kohen, and the garments of his banim, to minister in the office of ha-Kohen.
42
According to all that YHWH commanded Mosheh, so b'nei Yisra'el did all the work.
43Mosheh saw all the work, v'hinneh, they had done it as YHWH had commanded, even so had they done it: and Mosheh blessed them.

40:16
Thus did Mosheh: according to all that YHWH commanded him, so he did.
17Va'y'hi ba-chodesh ha-rishon ba-shanah ha-shenit, b'echad la-chodesh that ha-Mishkan was raised up.
18Mosheh raised up ha-Mishkan, and laid its sockets, and set up the boards of it, and put in the bars of it, and raised up its pillars.
19
He spread ha-Ohel al-ha-Mishkan, and put the roof of ha-Ohel above on it, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
20
He took and put ha`Edut el-ha-Aron, and set the poles `al-ha-Aron, and put ha-Kapporet above `al-ha-Aron.
21
He brought ha-Aron el-ha-Mishkan, and set up parokhet of the screen, and screened Aron ha`Edut, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
22
He put ha-shulchan b'Ohel Mo`ed, on the side of ha-Mishkan northward, outside of ha-parokhet.
23
He set on it in order lechem lifnei YHWH, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
24
He put ha-m'norah b'Ohel Mo`ed, opposite ha-shulchan, on the side of ha-Mishkan southward.
25
He lit ha-nerot lifnei YHWH, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
26
He put the altar of zahav b'Ohel Mo`ed lifnei ha-parokhet;

when they went el-Ohel Mo`ed and when they came near to ha-mizbeach, they should wash, as YHWH commanded Mosheh.
33
He raised up the court around ha-Mishkan v'ha-mizbeach, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Mosheh finished the work.
40:34
Then the cloud covered Ohel Mo`ed, u'khavod YHWH filled ha-Mishkan.
35Mosheh wasn't able to enter into Ohel Mo`ed, because the cloud stayed on it, u'khvod YHWH filled ha-Mishkan.
36
When the cloud was taken up from over ha-Mishkan, then b'nei Yisra'el went onward, throughout all their journeys;
37
but if the cloud wasn't taken up, then they didn't travel until the day that it was taken up.
38
For the cloud of YHWH (was) `al-ha-Mishkan on the tent by day, and there was esh in the cloud by night, in the sight of kol beit Yisra'el, throughout all their journeys.
FOOTNOTES [♦] 1:19: "Lying is a sin." Really? Where does the Bible say that? Bearing false witness does not cover all lies. These midwives were blessed by God (v. 21). RETURN 1:22: y'or - stream. Translated about 23 times in Exodus as "Nile," but the word Nile came from nachal (Dictionary.com) which means torrent, torrent-valley, wadi, brook, ravine, river, stream. The Nile is not the "river (nahar) of Egypt" of Gen. 15:18, which can be found on many biblical maps just south of the Gaza territory. RETURN 3:20: See 5:1fn. RETURN 5:1a: "Shalach" - (7971) to send. The root of shaliach: apostle; one sent. Mosheh wasn't simply saying "let my people go." RETURN 5:1b: Picture this. As Mosheh stood before the king of Mitzrayim, he was an 80-year-old (7:7 - 40 years in the court of Pharaoh [Acts 7:23], 40 years in Midyan [Acts 7:30]) stuttering (Ex. 4:10) sheepherder (Ex. 3:1). RETURN 5:3: Here the root word for "let go" is halakh, which also means "to walk." RETURN 9:28: "qolot elohim: "mighty thunderings" is the Mechon Mamre translation. This would normally be translated "voices (or sounds) of God (Elohim)." This shows the basic meaning of "elohim," which is "mighty ones." It was Elohim that/who created the heavens and the earth in Gen. 1:1. RETURN 12:10: Here is evidence that "Passover" is not a "day." It is the sacrifice and the meal eaten from it. "Pesach" (H6453) is from "pasach," which means "to pass or spring over."RETURN 13:4: "you go forth in the month of the aviv." "Aviv" is not given as the "name" of the month, but as a stage in the development of barley. ("The basic meaning of the word aviv is the stage in the growth of grain when the seeds have reached full size and are filling with starch, but have not dried yet. During the plague of hail [Exodus 9:31], the barley was said to be aviv and the flax giv`ol." [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aviv]) RETURN 16:15; "man hu": "What is it?" Throughout the remainder of the Tanakh it is referred to as "man."RETURN 20:4: image: Heb. pesel (6459): refers to an idol which has been carved or cast or made of wood.
likeness: Heb. t'munah (8544): something shaped, a fashioning, a form, an appearance, an image, a phantom, a likeness.
See also footnotes on Romans 1:23 and Heb. 1:3. RETURN 22:9: Here Elohim is, about as often as not, translated as "judges" or "court." (See the translations/definitions here. RETURN 26:14: See Glossary. RETURN 32:4: "THEY said..." The PEOPLE proclaimed this to be their god. Yet in the next verse, AHARON proclaimed a feast to YHWH! RETURN 32:22: Notice this is adoni, my master, not "Adonai," an emphatic form, which is reserved for El Shaddai. RETURN
