IGGERET Y'HUDAH
Letter of Jude
Brief notes on Hebrew pronunciation
can be found in the GLOSSARY
or at the bottom of Yirmeyahu.
For ( [♦] ), see the bottom of this page
and/or the FOOTNOTES page.
"Adonai" is reserved to refer to YHWH.  "Ha-Adon" may be ambiguous for YHWH or Yeshua.

1 Y'hudah, `eved Yeshua ha-Mashiach, va'achi Ya'akov, to those who are called, sanctified by Elohim ha-Av, and kept for Yeshua ha-Mashiach:

2 Mercy to you, v'shalom v'ahavah be multiplied.

3 Beloved, while I was very eager to write to you about our common yeshu`ah, I was constrained to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for ha-emunah which was once for all delivered to ha-k'doshim.  4 For certain anashim crept in secretly, even they who were of old written of beforehand to mishpat hazeh: anshei b'liya`al, turning chesed Eloheinu into lasciviousness, and denying Elohim our only Master, and Adoneinu Yeshua ha-Mashiach.

5 Now I desire to remind you, though you already know this, that Adonai, having saved ha`am me-eretz Mitzrayim, afterward destroyed those who didn't believe.  6 Malakhim who didn't keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for mishpat ha-yom ha-gadol.  7 Even as S'dom v'`Amorah and the cities around them, having, in the same way as these, given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange basar, are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of esh `olam.

8 Yet in like manner these also in their dreaming defile ha-basar, despise authority, and profane k'vodot.  9 But Mikha'el, sar ha-malakhim, when contending with ha-malshin and arguing about gufat Mosheh,9 dared not bring against him mishpat g'dufim, but said, "May Adonai rebuke you!"  10 But these speak evil of whatever things they don't know.  What they understand naturally, like the creatures without reason, in these things are they destroyed.  11 Oy to them!  For they went b'derekh Kayin, and ran riotously in the error of Bil`am for hire, and perished in the rebellion of Korach.  12 These are hidden rocky reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you, who, without fear, feed themselves; clouds without mayim, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;  13 wild waves of ha-yam, foaming up their own shame; wandering kokhavim, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved l`olam.

14 To these also Chanokh, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Hineh, Adonai came with tens of thousands14 of his k'doshim,  15 to execute mishpat ba'kol, and to reprove kol b'liya`al of all their ma`asim b'liya`al which they did b'liya`al, and of all the hard things which chata'im b'liya`al have spoken against him."[A]16 These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaks proud things), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.

17 But you, beloved, remember ha-d'varim which have been spoken before by shlichei Adoneinu Yeshua ha-Mashiach.  18 They said to you that "B'acharit ha-yamim there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts."  19 These are they who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having ha-Ruach.  20 But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy emunah, praying in Ruach ha-Kodesh.  21 Keep yourselves b'ahavat Elohim, looking for the mercy of Adoneinu Yeshua ha-Mashiach l'chayyei ha`olam.  22 On some have compassion, making a distinction, 23 and some save, snatching them out of ha-esh with fear, hating even the clothing stained by ha-basar.

24 Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his kavod in great joy,  25 l'Elohim Moshienu, he-chakham, be kavod and majesty, dominion and power, both now and l`olam.  Amein.
