CHAPTER 1

1:1 Kefa, shaliach Yeshua ha-Mashiach, to the chosen ones, gerim b'Pontos, Galatia, Kappadokia, Asia, u'Bithunia,  2 according to the foreknowledge of Elohim ha-Av, in sanctification of ha-Ruach, to obedience and sprinkling of ha-dam Yeshua ha-Mashiach:
Chesed to you and shalom be multiplied.

1:3 Barukh ha-Elohim Avi Adoneinu Yeshua ha-Mashiach, who according to his great chesed begat us again l'tikvat chayyim by raising Yeshua ha-Mashiach min ha-metim,  4 to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance, and that doesn't fade away, reserved ba-shamayim for you,  5 who by the power of Elohim are guarded through emunah to a yeshu`ah ready to be revealed l'ketz ha-yamim.  6 Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been put to grief in various trials, 7 that the proof of your emunah, which is more precious than zahav that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and kavod and honor b'hitgalut Yeshua ha-Mashiach --  8 whom, not having known, you love; on whom, though now you don't see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with simchah unspeakable and full of kavod --  9 receiving the end of your emunah, ha-yeshu`ah of your nafshot.

1:10 Concerning this yeshu`ah, ha-nevi'im sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of ha-chesed that would come to you,  11 searching for what or what kind of time ha-Ruach Mashiach, which was in them, pointed to, when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Mashiach, and the glories that should follow them.  12 To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached ha-B'sorah to you by Ruach ha-Kodesh sent forth from ha-shamayim; which things malakhim desire to look into.

1:13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your tikvah perfectly on ha-chesed that will be brought to you b'hitgalut Yeshua ha-Mashiach --  14 as yeladim of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,  15 but just as he who called you is kadosh, you yourselves also be k'doshim in all of your behavior;  16 because it is written, "You shall be k'doshim; ki kadosh ani."  17 If you call on him as Av, who without respect of persons judges according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in (reverent) fear:  18 knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with kesef o zahav, from the useless way of life handed down from avoteikhem,  19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, b'dam Mashiach;  20 who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of ha`olam, but was revealed b'acharit ha-yamim for your sake,  21 who through him are ma'aminim b'Elohim, that raised him min ha-metim, and gave him kavod; so that your emunah v'tikvah might be l'Elohim.

1:22 Seeing you have purified your nafshot in your obedience to he-emet through ha-Ruach in sincere love1-22 [phileo] of ha-achim, love one another b'lev tahor fervently:  23 having been born again, not of corruptible zera, but of incorruptible, bi'd'var Eloheinu ha-chai and remains l`olam.  24 For, "Kol basar is like grass, v'khol k'vod ish like the flower in the grass.  The grass withers, and its flower falls;  25 But the things of YHWH endure l`olam."[A]  This is the message of b'sorah which was preached to you.

A (23, 25) Is. 40:7-8.

CHAPTER 2

2:1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,  2 as newborn babes, long for the pure milk of ha-Davar, that you may grow thereby,  3 if indeed you have tasted that ha-Adon tov:

2:4 coming to him, an even chayyah, rejected indeed by b'nei adam, but chosen by Elohim, precious.  5 You also, as avanim chayyot, are built up as a spiritual bayit, to be a k'hunnat kodesh, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Elohim through Yeshua ha-Mashiach.  6 Because it is contained in ha-Katuv, "Hinneh, I lay in Tziyon an even pinnah, elect, precious: He who believes in him will not be put to shame."[A]7 For you, therefore, ha-ma'aminim, is the honor, but for such as are disobedient, "Ha-even which the builders rejected, has become rosh pinnah,"[B]8 and, "An even of stumbling, and a rock of offense."[C]  For they stumble at ha-davar, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed.

2:9 But you are an elect race, a royal k'hunnah, a goy kadosh,[D] a people for Elohim's own possession, that you may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:  10 who in time past were lo`am,[E] but now are `am Elohim, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

2:11 Beloved, I beg you as gerim and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against ha-nefesh;  12 having good behavior among ha-goyim, so in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your ma`asim tovim, which they see, glorify Elohim in the day of visitation.

2:13 Therefore subject yourselves to every institution of b'nei adam for the sake of Adonai: whether to ha-melekh, as supreme;  14 or to sarim, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to those who do well.  15 For so is the will of Elohim, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:  16 as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as `avdei Elohim.  17 Honor all (men).  Love ha-achim.  Fear Elohim.  Honor ha-melekh.

2:18 `Avadim, be in subjection to your adonim with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.  19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward Elohim.  20 For what glory is it, if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating?  But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with Elohim.  21 For to this were you called, because Mashiach also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps,  22 who did not sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth."[F]23 Who, when he was reviled, didn't revile back.  When he suffered, didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously;  24 who his own self bore our chatta'im in his body on ha`etz, that we, having died to chatta'im, might live to tz'dakah; by whose stripes you were healed.[G]25 For you were going astray like sheep; but are now returned to ha-Ro`eh and Overseer of your nafshot.

CHAPTER 3

3:1 In like manner, anashim, be in subjection to your own ba`alim; so that, even if any don't obey ha-Davar, they may be gained by the behavior of their nashim without a davar;  2 seeing your tahor behavior in fear.  3 Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of zahav, or of putting on fine clothing;  4 but in the hidden person of ha-lev, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet ruach, which is of great value before Elohim.  5 For this is how ha-nashim k'doshot before, who hoped in Elohim, also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own ba`alim:  6 as Sarah obeyed Avraham, calling him adon, whose y'ladim you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.

3:7 You anashim, in like manner, live with the female according to knowledge, giving honor, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of ha-chesed chayyim; not cutting off your t'fillot.

3:8 Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as achim, tenderhearted, courteous,  9 not returning evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; knowing that to this were you called, that you may inherit a b'rakhah.  10 For, "He who would love life and see yamim tov, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.  11 Let him turn away from evil, and do good.  Let him seek shalom and pursue it.  12 For the eyes of YHWH are on the tzaddikim, and his ears open to their entreaty; but the face of YHWH is against those who do evil."[A]

3:13 Now who is he who will harm you, if you become imitators of ha-tov?  14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of tz'dakah, you are blessed.  "Don't fear what they fear, neither be troubled."  15 But sanctify Adonai YHWH in your l'vavot and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning ha-tikvah that is in you, with humility and fear:  16 having a good conscience; that, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life ba-Mashiach.  17 For it is better, if the will of Elohim should so will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.  18 Because Mashiach also suffered for chatta'im once, ha-tzaddik for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to Elohim; being put to death ba-basar, but chai ba-ruach;  19 in which he also went and preached to ha-ruchot in prison,  20 who before were disobedient, when the longsuffering of Elohim waited patiently bi'y'mei Noach, while ha-tevah was being built.  In it, few, that is, eight nafshot, were saved through mayim.  21 This is a symbol of immersion, which now saves you - not the putting away of the filth of ha-basar, but the answer of a good conscience toward Elohim, through ha-t'chiyat Yeshua ha-Mashiach,  22 who is at the right hand of Elohim, having gone into ha-shamayim, malakhim and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

A (12) Ps. 34:15-16a

PEREQ ‏ד‎
CHAPTER 4

4:1 Forasmuch then as Mashiach suffered for us ba-basar, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered ba-basar has ceased from chet;  2 that you no longer should live the rest of your time ba-basar to the lusts of b'nei adam, but to the will of Elohim.  3 For we have spent enough of our past time living in doing the desire of ha-goyim, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, and unlawful idolatry.  4 They think it is strange that you don't run with them into the same excess of unsavedness, gidduph:  5 who will give account to him who is ready to judge ha-chayyim v'ha-metim.  6 For to this end was ha-B'sorah preached even to ha-metim, that they might be judged indeed as men ba-basar, but live as to Elohim ba-Ruach.

4:7 But the fulfillment of all (things) is near.  Therefore, be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.  8 And above all, be earnest in your ahavah among yourselves, for ahavah covers chatta'im rabim.  9 Be hospitable one to another without grumbling.  10 According as each has received a charisma, be ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of ha-chesed (of) Elohim in its various forms.  11 If any man speaks, let it be as it were d'varim Elohim.  If any man serves, let it be as of the strength which Elohim supplies, that in all things Elohim may be glorified through Yeshua ha-Mashiach, to whom belong ha-kavod and the dominion l`olmei `olamim.  Amein.

4:12 Beloved, don't be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.  13 But because you are partakers of the sufferings of Mashiach, rejoice; that at the revealing of his kavod also you may rejoice with simchah rav.  14 If you are insulted for shem ha-Mashiach, blessed are you; because Ruach ha-kavod Ruach Elohim rests on you.  On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.  15 For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters.  16 But if one of you suffers for being a Notzri, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify Elohim in this matter.  17 For the time (has come) for mishpat to begin at beit Elohim.  If it begins first at us, what will happen to those who don't obey B'sorat Elohim?  18 "If it is hard for ha-tzaddik to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and ha-chatta?"[A]19 Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of Elohim in doing good entrust their nafshot to him, as to a ne'eman Creator.

A (18) Prov. 11:31.

PEREQ ‏ה‎
CHAPTER 5

5:1 I exhort ha-Z'qenim among you, as a fellow zaqen, and an ed of the sufferings of Mashiach, and who will also share ba-kavod that will be revealed.  2 Shepherd the flock of Elohim which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly;  3 neither as exercising dominion over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.  4 When sar ha-Ro`im will be revealed, you will receive the crown of kavod that doesn't fade away.  5 Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to ha-Z'qenim.  Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for "Elohim resists the proud, but gives chesed to the humble."[A]

5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of Elohim, that he may exalt you in due time;  7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.  8 Be sober and self-controlled.  Be watchful.  Your adversary, ha-malshin, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.  9 Withstand him steadfast in your emunah, knowing that your achim who are ba`olam are undergoing the same sufferings.  10 V'Elohei khol ha-chesed (who called you to his eternal glory by Mashiach Yeshua), after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.  11 To him be ha-kavod and the power l`olmei `olamim.  Amein.

5:12 Through Silouanos, ha-ach ha-ne'eman, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying ki zeh chesed emet of ha-Elohim in which you stand.  13 She who is in Bavel, elect together with you, greets you; and so does Markos, b'ni.  14 Greet one another with a kiss of ahavah.  Shalom be to all those who are ba-Mashiach Yeshua.  Amein.

A (5) Prov. 3:34.
