CHAPTER 1

1:1 Sha'ul, shaliach Mashiach Yeshua al-pi mitzvat ha-Elohim Moshienu v'ha-Adon Yeshua ha-Mashiach, tikvatenu;

1:2 el-Timotheos, my true yeled b'emunah: Chesed, mercy, shalom from Elohim Avinu, v'ha-Mashiach Yeshua, Adoneinu.

1:3 As I exhorted you to stay at Ephesos, when I was going into Makedonia, that you might charge certain anashim not to teach a different torah,  4 neither to pay attention to haggadot and endless genealogies, which cause disputes, rather than the stewardship of Elohim, which is in emunah --  5 But the end of the charge is ahavah b'lev tahor, and a good conscience and unfeigned emunah;  6 from which some, having missed the mark, have turned aside to vain talking;  7 desiring to be morei Torah, though they understand neither what they say, nor about what they strongly affirm.

1:8 But we know that ha-Torah tovah hi, if ben adam uses it lawfully,  9 as knowing this, that Torah is not made for a tzaddik, but for the Torah-less and insubordinate, for the ungodly and chatta'im, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,  10 for fornicators, for homosexuals[♦], for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;  11 according to B'sorat k'vod of the blessed Elohim, which was committed to my trust.

1:12 And I thank him who enabled me, Mashiach Yeshua Adoneinu, because he counted me ne'eman, appointing me to service;  13 although I was before a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent.  However, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.  14 Chesed Adoneinu abounded exceedingly with emunah v'ha-ahavah ba-Mashiach Yeshua.  15 Ne'eman ha-davar, and worthy of all acceptance, that Mashiach Yeshua came la`olam to save chatta'im; of whom anochi ha-gadol.  16 However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief, Yeshua ha-Mashiach might display all his patience, for an example of those who were going to believe in him to chayyei `olam.  17 u'Melekh `olamim, immortal, invisible, who alone is chakham, be honor and k'vod l`olmei `olamim.  Amein.

1:18 Ha-mitzvah hazot I commit to you, (my) child Timotheos, according to ha-n'vuot which led the way to you, that by them you may wage the good warfare;  19 holding emunah and a good conscience; which some having thrust away made a shipwreck concerning ha-emunah;  20 of whom is Humenaios v'Alexandros; whom I delivered to ha-satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.

PEREQ ‏ב‎
CHAPTER 2

2:1 I exhort, therefore, first of all, that petitions, t'fillot, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for kol b'nei adam:  2 for m'lakhim and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all chasidut and reverence.  3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of Elohim, Moshienu;  4 who desires to have kol b'nei adam to be saved, and come to full knowledge of ha-emet.  5 For there is echad Elohim, and one mediator bein Elohim u'vein b'nei adam; hu ben adam Mashiach Yeshua,  6 who gave his nefesh as a kofer for all; ha`edut in its own times;  7 to which I was appointed a preacher and a shaliach (I am telling ha-emet ba-Mashiach, not lying), moreh ha-goyim be-emunah u'v'emet.

2:8 I desire, therefore, that anashim b'khol maqom pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.  9 Likewise, ha-nashim also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, and zahav or pearls or costly clothing;  10 but (which becomes nashim professing fear of Elohim) through ma`asim tovim.  11 Let an ishshah learn in quietness with all subjection.  12 But I don't permit an ishshah to teach, nor to exercise authority over an ish,[♦] but to be in quietness.  13 For Adam was first formed, then Chavvah.  14 Adam wasn't deceived, but ha-ishshah, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;  15 but she will be saved through her child-bearing, if they continue in emunah, ahavah, and sanctification with sobriety.

PEREQ ‏ג‎
CHAPTER 3

3:1 Ne'eman ha-davar: if a man seeks the office of rosh ha`edah, he desires a ma`aseh tov.  2 Thus, rosh ha`edah must be without reproach, ba'al ishshah achat, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;  3 not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for kesef, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;  4 one who rules his own bayit well, having y'ladim in subjection with all reverence;  5 (but if an ish doesn't know how to rule his own bayit, how will he take care of `adat Elohim?)  6 not a novice, to avoid being puffed up and falling into the condemnation of ha-malshin.  7 Moreover he must have good `edut from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of ha-malshin.

3:8 Shammashim, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much yayin, not greedy for kesef;  9 holding sod ha-emunah in a pure conscience.  10 Let them also first be tested; then let them serve as shammashim, if they are blameless.  11 Their nashim in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, ne'eman ba-kol.  12 Let shammashim be ba`alei ishshah achat, ruling their y'ladim and their own batim well.  13 For those who have served well as shammashim gain to themselves a good standing, and great boldness in ha-emunah which is ba-Mashiach Yeshua.

3:14 These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly;  15 but if I wait long, that you may know how b'nei adam ought to behave themselves in Beit Elohim, which is `adat Elohim chayyim, the pillar and basis of ha-emet.  16 Without controversy, gadol sod ha-chasidut: He was revealed ba-basar, justified ba-Ruach, seen by malakhim, preached among ha-goyim, believed on ba`olam, and received up b'kavod.

PEREQ ‏ד‎
CHAPTER 4

4:1 But ha-Ruach says expressly that b'acharit ha-yamim some will fall away min-ha-emunah, paying attention to seducing ruchot v'el-torot ha-shedim,  2 through the profaneness of liars, having been branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;  3 forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which Elohim created to be received b'todah by ha-ma'aminim who know ha-emet.  4 Ki khol-b'riat Elohim tovah hi, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received b'todah.  5 For it is sanctified bi'd'var Elohim u'vi't'fillah.

4:6 If you point out these things to ha-achim, you will be a good shammash Mashiach Yeshua, nourished b'divrei ha-emunah, v'ha-torah ha-tov which you have followed.  7 But refuse profane and old wives' haggadot.  Exercise yourself ba-chasidut.  8 For bodily exercise has some value, but chasidut has value l'khol davar, having the promise of chayyei ha`olam hazeh v'ha`olam haba.  9 Ne'eman ha-davar hazeh and worthy of all acceptance.  10 Ki la-zot (end) we both labor and suffer reproach, because we have set our hope l'Elohim chayyim, who is ha-Moshia l'khol ha-adam, especially la-ma'aminim.

4:11 Command and teach these things.  12 Let no ben adam despise your youth; but be an example la-ma'aminim b'davar, in your way of life, b'ahavah, b'ruach, be'emunah, and in purity.  13 Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching.  14 Don't neglect ha-chesed that is in you, which was given to you by n'vuah, with the laying on of the hands of ha-z'qenim.  15 Be diligent in these things.  Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all.  16 Pay attention to yourself, and to your torah.  Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both your nefesh and those who hear you.

PEREQ ‏ה‎
CHAPTER 5

5:1 Don't rebuke a zaqen, but exhort him k'av; the younger ones k'achim;  2 ha-z'qenot k'imot; the younger ka-achayot, in all purity.

' 5:3 Honor ha-almanot asher be'emet almanot indeed.  4 But if any almanah has y'ladim or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own bayit, and to repay their avot, for this is acceptable in the sight of Elohim.  5 Now she who is an almanah indeed, and desolate, has her hope set on Elohim, and continues in petitions and t'fillot lailah va-yomam.  6 But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.  7 Also command these things, that they may be without reproach.  8 But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and specially his own bayit, he has denied ha-emunah, and is worse than a nonbeliever.

5:9 Let none be enrolled as an almanah under sixty years old, having been eshet ish echad,  10 well reported of for ma`asim tovim; if she has brought up y'ladim, if she has used hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the feet of ha-k'doshim, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed kol ma`aseh tov.  11 But refuse younger almanot, for when they have grown wanton against Mashiach, they desire to marry;  12 having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.  13 Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about mi-bayit la-bayit.  Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.  14 I desire, therefore, that the younger almanot marry, bear y'ladim, rule ha-bayit, and give no occasion to opponents for reviling.  15 For already some have turned aside after ha-satan.  16 If any ma'amin o ma'aminah has widows, let them relieve them, and don't let ha`edah be burdened; that it might relieve those who are almanot indeed.

5:17 Let ha-z'qenim who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor ba-davar and in teaching.  18 Ki ha-Katuv says, "You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain."[A]  And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."[B]19 Don't receive an accusation against a zaqen, except at the word of two or three `edim.  20 Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.  21 I charge you in the sight of Elohim va'Adon Yeshua ha-Mashiach, and the elect malakhim, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.  22 Lay hands hastily on no one, neither be a participant in chata'im of others.  Keep yourself pure.

5:23 Be no longer a drinker of mayim only, but use a little yayin for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.

5:24 Ha-chata'im of some b'nei adam are evident, going before to mishpat, and some b'nei adam also they follow after.  25 In the same way also there are ma`asim tovim that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can't be hidden.

PEREQ ‏ו‎
CHAPTER 6

6:1 Let as many as are `avadim under the yoke count their own adonim worthy of kol kavod, that gidduf not be brought on shem Elohim and ha-Torah.  2 Those who have believing adonim, let them not despise them, because they are achim, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved.  Teach and exhort these things.

6:3 If anyone teaches differently, and doesn't consent to sound d'varim, those of Adoneinu Yeshua ha-Mashiach, and to ha-Torah which is according to chasidut;  4 he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,  5 constant friction of b'nei adam of corrupt minds and destitute of ha-emet, who suppose that chasidut is a means of gain.  Withdraw yourself from such.  6 But chasidut with contentment is great gain.  7 For we brought nothing into ha`olam, and we certainly can't carry anything out.  8 But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.  9 But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown b'nei adam in ruin and avaddon.  10 For ahavat kesef is a root of all kinds of evil.  Some have been led astray from ha-emunah in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

6:11 But you, ish ha-Elohim, flee these things, and follow after tz'dakah, chasidut, emunah, ahavah, savlanut, and gentleness.  12 Fight the good fight of ha-emunah.  Lay hold of chayyei `olam, whereunto you were called, and confessed the good confession in the sight of many `edim.  13 I charge you in the sight of Elohim, who gives chayyim to all things, and of Mashiach Yeshua, who before Pontios Pilatos testified the good confession,  14 that you keep ha-mitzvah, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of Adoneinu Yeshua ha-Mashiach;  15 which he[♦] will bring out in its own times , who is the blessed and only Sovereign, Melekh ha-m'lakhim v'Adonei ha-adonim;[A]16 who alone has immortality,[B] dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no ben adam has seen, nor can see: to whom be ha-kavod u'g'vurat `olamim.  Amein.

6:17 Charge those who are rich in ha`olam hazeh, that they not be haughty, nor have their trust set on the uncertainty of riches, but on Elohim ha-chayyim, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;  18 that they do good, that they be rich in ma`asim tovim, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;  19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of chayyei ha`olam.

6:20 Timotheos, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;  21 which some professing have erred concerning ha-emunah.  Chesed be with you.  Amein.
